Our story
Why I built it — and whose name it carries.
NinoMed was founded to take on a challenge I kept facing in my own operating room: stabilizing a patient efficiently, and safely.
My relationship with medicine was shaped very early. I grew up in upstate New York, in a home where my father, a pediatrician, ran his medical practice. He died of lymphoma when I was nine years old — a loss that left a deep and lasting mark on me.
Many years later, in 2013, I faced a second profound mortality moment when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I found myself navigating that crisis as a father of three young children. All through their lives I had instilled in my children the belief that they should pursue their dreams and embrace calculated risks in pursuit of better outcomes. Yet in that moment of reflection, I recognized that I was not living by that same conviction myself.
That realization brought a new fear into focus — not the fear of failure, but the fear of dying with regret. When my fear of regret grew greater than my fear of failure, the path forward became clear: I needed to take the leap and launch a company.
I invented Safe-T-Secure®, the original all-in-one patient positioner, to allow positioning of patients in about a minute regardless of BMI.
In naming my company, I looked to the person who had first inspired my connection to medicine — my father. His nickname had been “Nino,” and so I named the company NinoMed, as a tribute to the first Dr. Visco and the legacy that shaped my life.
Fortunately, my wife’s cancer was caught early, and she remains cancer free.
NinoMed continues to expand across the United States and internationally. We have a genuine commitment to sustainability, with favorable results from biodegradability testing performed by an independent laboratory.
