The short version
All three products are designed to address the same problem — keeping an anesthetized patient from sliding in 30–40° of head-down tilt — with different architectures. The Pink Pad® (Xodus Medical) is a memory foam friction pad. TrenGuard™ (D.A. Surgical) is a rail-mounted frame with a cervical bolster. Safe-T-Secure® (NinoMed) is the original all-in-one integrated solution — foam, securement, arm and hand protection, integrated handles, and perineal barrier in one vacuum-sealed unit.

*Independent laboratory testing using modified/extended ASTM D5511 protocol at 120 days, comparing Safe-T-Secure®/STS-Body Pad™ foam with The Pink Pad® Biodegradable foam. The official test graphic — including full methodology and disclaimers — is shown directly below. Competitor entries are taken from each manufacturer’s current Instructions for Use and published product materials, linked above: The Pink Pad® IFU (Xodus Medical, LITCOMBO001_R12) and the TrenGuard™ IFU (D.A. Surgical, L1001EA7 Rev. 17). “Not among listed components” means the attribute does not appear in that manufacturer’s own component list as of August 2026 — check with the manufacturer.
How each system differs
Pink Pad® — many kits with different components
The Pink Pad is widely stocked with specialty-specific configurations. The single-use kits include a lift sheet and body straps; some kits include arm protection. Kit contents and case quantities vary by configuration. If your OR already stocks it, the switching question is whether an all-in-one format, handles, built-in perineal protective sheet and independent biodegradability comparison justify a trial.
TrenGuard™ — metal frame and bolster
D.A. Surgical’s approach is a rail-mounted support frame with a cervical notch bolster, head stabilizer, and lateral stabilizing pillows. Their IFU publishes weight guidance — the 450 Pack for patients 90–450 lb and the 600 Pack for patients up to 550 lb, with a system maximum of 550 lb. It is a restraint concept rather than a friction surface; evaluate how it fits your nerve-protection protocol, and note that the frame requires separately purchased rail clamps and that D.A. Surgical requires training before first use.
Safe-T-Secure® — all-in-one integrated solution
One integrated solution, one item number, under a minute to full stabilization: friction foam, full-torso securement, integrated arm and hand protectors that obviate the need for armboards even prior to intubation, an integrated non-woven sheet to tuck the arm, built-in handles, and an impermeable perineal barrier — designed by a robotic surgeon and made in the U.S.A. It replaces the arm boards, shoulder blocks, tape, and foam a traditional setup pulls from a dozen SKUs. If you remove Safe-T-Secure® from its vacuum-sealed bag and shake it, nothing will fall off. Everything is connected. Everything is where you need it — when you need it.
How to run the comparison that counts
Spec sheets don’t hold patients reliably in Trendelenburg at 35°. A real trial requires real patients, in a real OR, with busy OR teams focused on safety and efficiency. Trial Safe-T-Secure® in your own OR on real robotic cases and grade us on setup minutes, migration at closing, nurse steps saved, nerve protection, overall ease-of-use, and total per-case cost. Request a Safe-T-Secure® sample and trial and put us to the test!
