Comparison guide · Updated August 2026Trendelenburg positioners compared: Pink Pad®, TrenGuard®, WaffleGrip™, and Safe-T-Secure®.

We make one of the four — so this comparison names what each system does well, sticks to each manufacturer's own published claims, and tells you exactly where our numbers come from.

The short version

All four systems solve the same problem — keeping an anesthetized patient from sliding in 30–40° of head-down tilt — with different philosophies. The Pink Pad® (Xodus Medical) is the category-defining friction pad. TrenGuard® (D.A. Surgical) is a bolster-based "No-Slide" restraint with strong bariatric options. WaffleGrip™ (Baxter/Hillrom) pairs a friction surface with torso straps from an OR-table manufacturer. Safe-T-Secure® (NinoMed) is the original all-in-one kit — foam, securement, arm protection, lift handles, and perineal barrier in one vacuum-sealed unit.

Competitor claims are taken from each manufacturer's own published materials, linked above; "Not in public materials" means we could not find the attribute in the manufacturer's public materials as of August 2026 — check with the manufacturer.

What each system does well

Pink Pad® — the incumbent standard

Xodus built this category: broad hospital familiarity, specialty-specific configurations, and brochure-cited pressure data. If your OR already stocks it, the switching question is whether an all-in-one format and independent biodegradability comparison justify a trial.

TrenGuard® — bariatric strength

D.A. Surgical's bolster approach carries explicit 450/600-lb weight ratings — the clearest published bariatric story in the category. Its restraint concept differs mechanically from friction pads; evaluate how it fits your nerve-protection protocol.

WaffleGrip™ — table-maker integration

From the Hillrom/Baxter ecosystem, it appeals to ORs standardizing on one table vendor. Positioning accessories and arm protection are assembled separately.

Safe-T-Secure® — the all-in-one

One kit, one item number, under a minute to full stabilization: friction foam, full-torso securement, tucked-arm protection, integrated lift handles, and an impermeable perineal barrier — designed by a robotic surgeon and made in the U.S.A. It replaces the arm boards, shoulder blocks, tape, and foam a traditional setup pulls from a dozen SKUs.

How to run the comparison that counts

Spec sheets don't hold retraction at 35°. Trial each finalist in your own OR on real robotic cases and score: setup minutes, migration at closing, nurse steps saved, nerve-position documentation, and total per-case cost including every accessory the primary product assumes. Request a Safe-T-Secure® sample and put us in that trial.
